The raid assault pod was a type of 9 meters long self-propelled assault starship that was used during the Great Galactic War and beyond by the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire alike.
Although it could be used as a regular escape pod in case of emergency, it was typically launched from larger starships to deliver boarding team to an enemy starship. The capsule was designed to drill through the hull of a starship and, once inside, open and release the assault team while locking itself in place with multiple magnetic clips to seal the breach and prevent air from escaping into space.
